About Rene Jacques

Rene Jacques was born and raised in Oakland, California. His mom and dad were both nurses who worked the graveyard shift to make sure they could either attend his games or coach him in his love of sports.

He graduated from St. Joseph’s Notre Dame High School in Alameda in 1998 with a 4.0 GPA and earned a full ride scholarship for basketball to CSU, Sacramento. While in college, Rene was recognized as an All Academic in the Big Sky Conference. He had the opportunity to continue playing basketball overseas but decided otherwise. “I specifically remember thinking that I should pass on playing overseas so that I could get working on my career sooner. I had no clue how I was going to make a career, real estate sounded interesting at the time so I went for it and knew that I would work my tail off to find a profession that would allow me to build a life that I have always dreamed about.”

Rene started his real estate career in 2002 at a title company, then transitioned into lending in 2003. In 2005, he earned his broker’s license and worked 13 years in the industry at two major mortgage companies where he was recognized as the Top Producing Loan Agent year after year.

In 2015, Rene decided to start Golden Bay Mortgage Group where he takes great pride in using the combination of experience in purchase transactions and real estate investment properties to help his clients find exactly the right property and get the best deal. “The epiphany happened as I started building a team… I had done this before. I had worked together with teammates towards a common goal. What I had lived and learned from playing basketball is what allowed me to take my career to the next level. It’s always been there, I was practicing basketball but in reality, I was practicing for life. My sports background is my biggest asset in business.”
